Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-05-12 · Private beta version

Beta notice. Takiki is a private beta service. There is no fee during the beta phase, no service-level guarantee, and no formal warranty. A production version of these terms, aligned to a registered business entity and including the required 特商法 (Specified Commercial Transactions Act) notice, will be published before any user is charged.

1. Who these terms apply to

These terms govern your use of Takiki ("we", "us", "the service"), a private-beta voice AI service for migrant families adapting to life in Japan, operated by an independent developer based in Tokyo. By using the service, you ("you", "user") agree to these terms.

You may use Takiki only if you are at least 18 years old, have legal capacity to contract, and have received an explicit invitation to the private beta. You may use the service on behalf of your minor children only as their parent or legal guardian.

2. What the service does

Takiki helps you complete Japanese phone reservations and daily-life tasks by voice. You speak your request in your own language; the AI places a phone call in polite Japanese to the business you specify, completes the task on your behalf, and reports back. Optionally, Takiki captures vocabulary from your real calls for later language drilling, and can answer your child's curious questions in a bilingual voice mode.

3. AI disclosure on outbound calls

Takiki will always identify itself as an AI assistant when making outbound calls on your behalf. The standard opening line is:

お電話ありがとうございます。AIアシスタントとして、ご利用者様の代わりにお電話を差し上げております。

The AI will not pretend to be a human, will not refuse to acknowledge it is an AI when asked, and will not impersonate you or any other person. This commitment is in line with Japan's Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (総務省) guidance on automated voice and Twilio's Acceptable Use Policy.

4. Your responsibilities

By using Takiki, you agree to:

You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide. If the AI relays information you entered (e.g. your child's age, your callback number, your address), and that information turns out to be wrong, the consequences are yours.

5. What we will do — and what we will not

We will

We will not

6. Service availability and no SLA

Takiki is a beta service. It may be unavailable, slow, or unreliable at any time. There is no service-level agreement during beta. We may suspend, restrict, or terminate the service at any time, with or without notice, to address security issues, abuse, infrastructure problems, or to make improvements.

AI-generated voice and AI-generated dialogue may contain errors, misunderstandings, or hallucinations. You are responsible for reviewing the AI's planned actions (via the pre-call interview) before authorizing a call, and for verifying the booking after the call completes.

7. Third-party services

Takiki uses third-party services to operate, including Twilio (telephony), OpenAI / OpenRouter (language model inference), Cloudflare (site delivery), and Fly.io (backend hosting). Your use of Takiki is also subject to those providers' acceptable-use policies and terms, to the extent applicable. Specifically:

We do not control these third-party services and are not responsible for their availability, accuracy, or any acts or omissions on their part.

8. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available" during the beta phase. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties — express, implied, statutory, or otherwise — including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, and reliability.

We make no warranty that calls will succeed, that bookings will be honored by the receiving business, or that AI-generated Japanese is appropriate for every context. Japanese receptionists may decline to interact with an AI caller; we have no control over their decision.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for any claim arising from or related to your use of the service is limited to the fees you have paid to us in the twelve (12) months before the event giving rise to the claim. During the private beta, fees are zero — our liability cap is therefore zero.

We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, including loss of opportunity, lost reservations, embarrassment, business interruption, or missed appointments — even if we have been advised of the possibility.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Japanese law (e.g., for gross negligence, intentional misconduct, or matters covered by consumer-protection law).

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any third-party claim arising from your misuse of the service, your breach of these terms, or your provision of inaccurate information to the AI.

11. Termination

You may stop using the service at any time and delete your account via the in-app "Delete my data" function or by emailing app@luke.archi.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, abuse the service, or if doing so is necessary to comply with applicable law, third-party provider requirements, or to protect other users.

12. Changes to the service or these terms

We will update these terms as Takiki moves out of beta. Material changes will be notified to you by email at least 30 days in advance. Continued use of the service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance.

13. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Any dispute arising from these terms or your use of the service will be heard exclusively by the Tokyo District Court (東京地方裁判所), unless mandatory consumer-protection law requires otherwise.

14. 特商法 notice (placeholder)

The Specified Commercial Transactions Act (特定商取引法 / 特商法) notice required for any B2C paid service in Japan will be published on this site before the service exits beta and before any user is charged. The notice will include the operator's registered business name and address, contact email, refund policy, and payment terms.

15. Contact
